Preparations for investigations
MRI of the abdomen with / without contrast;
– MRI Cholangiography (MRCP) regime with / without contrast;
– MRI of the pancreas with / without contrast;
– MRI screening of the whole body;
– MRI Enterography;
– MRI Urography.
The day before the investigation:
Diet: hard fiber (cabbage, other vegetables and fruits), carbonated drinks, black bread, dairy products should be excluded from the diet.
Recommended: Simeticone 40 mg (“Espumisan 40mg”, “Balonix Med 80mg”, “Flaton 50mg”, “Flatulence 80mg”) : 2 tablets 3 times a day.
* This is necessary to eliminate excessive bloating.
On the day of the examination:
– The investigation is performed on an empty stomach – the last meal should not be taken later than 3-4 hours before the start of the examination;
– To perform the MRI of the Enterography, it is presented with 45-60 min until the time of the examination, with a bottle of Flat Water (1.5 l).
– You need to bring all medical documents related to the area of interest: postoperative extracts, data from previous examinations, such as MRI (films and conclusions, if any), ultrasound, CT. The treatment of the attending physician is welcome. This information is needed by the imaging physician to optimally analyze and plan the protocol.
– MRI of pelvic organs with/without contrast
In case of prostate examination: sexual abstinence is recommended approx. 24h before examination.
– Diet: Exclude hard fiber (cabbage, other vegetables and fruits), carbonated beverages, rye bread, dairy products.
It is recommended to carry out the investigation with a medium-filled bladder.
1-2 days before the investigation:

On the day of investigation:
– The investigation is carried out on an empty stomach: the last meal should be taken not later than 3-4 hours before the start of the investigation.
3-day diet:
– Exclude foods that can cause meteorism: milk, cabbage, beans, potatoes, fruits (apples, bananas, grapes) and fruit juices, pasta, carbonated beverages, stewed fruit, jams.
– Recommended: cereals cooked with water, omelet, boiled meat and fish, soups and liquids (plain water) in abundance, kefir, fat free quark, dried bread, chamomile tea without sugar; food should be steamed, boiled or baked.
- Ferments (Creon 10,000; Panzinorm 10,000; Triferment Forte 10,000; Mezim Forte 10,000)
one capsule during meals 3 times/day.
MeteoSpasmyl 1 capsule 3 times a day before meals
- The evening before investigation – light dinner at 18:00
- In the morning of investigation – light breakfast (chamomile tea without sugar, dried white bread, and 1 capsule of MeteoSpasmyl)
On the day of investigation:
– For adults: The investigation is performed on an empty stomach;
It is not recommended to smoke, chew gum in the morning before the investigation.
Medicines prescribed by the doctor should be taken with small sips of plain water, not with juices, tea, coffee, water with lemon juice.
The day before the investigation, exclude products that can cause meteorism: milk, cabbage, beans, fruits (apples, bananas, grapes) and fruit juices, pasta, carbonated water, stewed fruit, jams, as well as fatty, fried and spicy foods.
Take:
- 1. Ferments (Creon 10,000, Panzinorm 10,000, Triferment Forte 10,000, Mezim Forte 10,000)
one capsule during meals 1-2 times/day,
- Simeticon 40 mg (Espumisan 40mg, Balonix Med 80mg, Flaton 50mg , Flatulence 80mg): One capsule 3 times a day after a meal or 2 capsules in case of excessive bloating.
– Children should not drink or eat for 4 hours before the investigation or should skip one meal.
Drink plain water; exclude juices, tea, cocoa, milk.
It is necessary to drink 500 ml of plain water an hour before the beginning of the investigation. It is not allowed to urinate before the investigation.
It is not done during menstruation. Preferably between the 5th and 10th day of the menstrual cycle.
A few hours before examination it is necessary to prepare the intestinal tract. For this purpose, it is recommended to use an enema (1.5 l of cold water) or rectal cleansing suppositories.
The day before the investigation:

To eliminate excessive bloating take Simethicone 40 mg (Espumisan 40mg, Balonix Med 80mg, Flaton 50mg, Flatulence 80mg): 2 tablets 3 times a day.
On the day of investigation:
The investigation is performed on an empty stomach!
Bring:
– previous similar investigation results
– referral from a doctor (if any)
Do not drink liquids and do not eat for 3 hours before the investigation.
FibroScan test is contraindicated for pregnant women and patients with active implantable medical devices (pacemaker).
Before the 10th day of the cycle.
Preparation for colonoscopy should begin 3 days before the investigation:
During this period, it is recommended to exclude meat, vegetables, fruits, mushrooms, bread, cereals, pasta, coffee from the diet.
It is allowed to include in the diet:
1. Dairy products – milk, sour cream, sour milk, yogurt without dyes or additives, melted cheese, except cottage cheese!!!
2. Grated cheese on the 1st and 2nd day of preparation.
3. Omelet, on the 1st and 2nd day of preparation.
4. Clear broth, honey, clear juices, plain water, tea.
On the last (3rd) day of preparation it is allowed to consume only liquids (clear broth, clear juice, plain water, tea).
At 14:00 the preparation of the intestine begins. You need 4 sachets of Macrogol (Prolax Forte, Fortrans, Diagnol), which are dissolved in 4 liters of boiled water that has been cooled to room temperature. Drink it within 4-6 hours (from 14:00 to 20:00).
If you cannot find Macrogol (Prolax Forte, Fortrans, Diagnol) for the preparation of the intestine, you can use another preparation, Lactulose (Duphalac, Lactulac, Imoper) (400 ml), which is used as follows: at 14:00 dissolve 200 ml of Duphalac in 2.5 liters of plain water, consume gradually within 3-4 hours. Take a break from 18:00 to 19:00. At 19:00, another 200 ml of Duphalac is dissolved in 2.0 liters of water and consumed gradually within 2 hours, until 21:00. In the evening before sleep take 3-4 capsules of Simeticon 40 mg (Espumisan 40 mg, Balonix Med 80 mg, Flaton 50 mg, Flatulence 80 mg).
After this, only clear liquids can be consumed in the evening!
On the days intended for preparation for colonoscopy, you can still take the medicines that you usually take, except for iron and coal preparations.
It is not allowed to have an enema!!!
On the day of investigation, do not eat or drink anything. Come to CDG one hour before the scheduled investigation time. During this time, you will have a pre-anesthesia examination, necessary to assess your general condition and the anesthetic risk, followed by a consultation of the anesthesiologist. Express pre-anesthesia examination (ECG, blood count, ionogram and coagulogram) is mandatory and is done only at CDG on the day of colonoscopy. The previous results of the above-named investigations will not be accepted because they do not fully reflect your condition on the day of the procedure.
After colonoscopy you will be supervised and monitored by the anesthesiologist for about 1-2 hours. It is advisable to come with a companion.
On the day of the colonoscopy, it is not allowed to drive a car!!!
Since preparation for colonoscopy and information about your health condition are essential for the success of the procedure, it is recommended that you bring your medical record and the results of previous examinations, in case you have had an irrigoscopy, gastroscopy or colonoscopy.
The day before the investigation – last meal at 18:00-19:00.
On the day of investigation:
From the morning, you should not eat or drink anything.
Do not consume chewing gum or smoke!

- Tests are performed in the morning on an empty stomach.
- The day before the investigation exclude fatty and fried food, alcohol, smoking and stress.
- Inform the doctor about the medication taken.
- It is not recommended to have blood tests on the same day after X-ray or physiotherapy procedures.
- Hormone tests are performed strictly until 09.30.
When you come to the laboratory, you should tell what day of your menstrual cycle it is.
- The assessment of a laboratory test in dynamics is performed at the same time of day as the previous test.
The container with the collected urine shall be brought to the laboratory within an hour.
The container with the middle portion of morning urine shall be brought to the laboratory within an hour.

The first urine sample is discarded. Throughout the day, night and the first urine of the next morning is collected in a clean container, which is kept in a cool place for the duration of collection. The next morning, the amount of urine collected is measured, mixed, and 100 ml of it brought to the laboratory, on the label of which the identification number, name, surname of the patient, date and year of birth, as well as the volume of urine collected in 24 hours are noted.

Preventively, coffee, tea, chocolate, fruit (especially bananas) and vanilla-containing substances should be avoided 72 hours before collection.
Smoking, physical and mental stress should also be avoided. It is preferable to discontinue medication that may cause interference 1 week before collection.

- It is recommended to collect the sample outside the menstrual period (in the middle of the menstrual cycle).
- To collect a bacteriological sample from the vagina with antibiogram, 24 hours before it, it is recommended to consume salty and spicy foods to challenge the vaginal flora.
- Do not drink or eat anything in the morning before the investigation.
- 72 hours before sample collection: sexual intercourse, vaginal washing, other intravaginal treatments (gels, creams, contraceptives, disinfectants, lubricants, intravaginal tampons) or other intravaginal maneuvers (vaginal exploration) should be avoided.
- It is recommended to collect samples outside the menstrual period (in the middle of the menstrual cycle).
- Do not drink or eat anything in the morning before the investigation.
- Optimal period for having the test: before the start of antibacterial treatment or in the period between treatments, but not earlier than 2 weeks after the completion of antibacterial therapy.
- Do not use gels and/or antiseptics during intimate hygiene.
- Collect the middle portion of morning urine in a sterile container.
- Deliver the container to the laboratory within 2 hours.
Results are issued AFTER 5 WORKING DAYS.
- Optimal period for having the test: before the start of antibacterial treatment or in the period between treatments, but not earlier than 2 weeks after the completion of antibacterial therapy.
- Refrain from sexual contact for 3 days before the investigation.
- Three hours before sample collection refrain from urination.
