Bile Acids Blood Test

The bile acids blood test is used to measure the levels of bile acids, which are produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Bile acids play an important role in the digestion of fats and the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins. Abnormal levels of bile acids can indicate problems with liver function or bile flow.

Preparation for the Investigation

1. It is recommended to perform the analysis in the morning on an empty stomach.
2. The day before the investigation, exclude: fatty and fried foods, alcohol, smoking, and stress.
3. You can take your prescribed medications as usual, but do not take over-the-counter medications without consulting your doctor first. In some cases, the doctor may suggest stopping certain medications before the blood test.
4. Performing blood tests after X-rays or physiotherapy procedures on the same day is not recommended.
5. Dynamic evaluation of a laboratory test should be performed at the same time of day as the previous test.
