ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase) Test
The ALT (Alanine Aminotransferase) test is a blood test used to evaluate liver function. ALT is an enzyme primarily found in the liver but also in other tissues and plays a crucial role in amino acid metabolism. ALT levels in the blood can indicate liver health and help diagnose liver conditions.
Preparation for the Test:
- It is recommended to perform the test in the morning on an empty stomach.
- The day before the test, avoid fatty and fried foods, alcohol, smoking, and stress.
- Prescription medications can usually be taken as normal, but do not take over-the-counter medications without consulting your doctor beforehand. In some cases, your doctor may suggest stopping certain medications before the test.
- It is not recommended to perform blood tests after X-rays or physiotherapy procedures on the same day.
- Dynamic evaluation of a laboratory test should be performed at the same time of day as the previous test.
Results are released on the same day!
