Ammonia Blood Test
The ammonia blood test is a laboratory test used to measure the level of ammonia in the blood. Ammonia is a byproduct of protein metabolism and is normally converted into urea by the liver and then excreted through urine. High levels of ammonia in the blood can indicate liver function problems or other metabolic disorders.
Preparation for the Investigation
- It is recommended to perform the analysis in the morning on an empty stomach.
- The day before the investigation, exclude: fatty and fried foods, alcohol, smoking, and stress.
- You can take your prescribed medications as usual, but do not take over-the-counter medications without consulting your doctor first. In some cases, the doctor may suggest stopping certain medications before the blood test.
- Performing blood tests after X-rays or physiotherapy procedures on the same day is not recommended.
- Dynamic evaluation of a laboratory test should be performed at the same time of day as the previous test.
The result is released on the same day!
