Urinalysis

is a laboratory test that helps identify substances and cellular material in the urine, associated with various metabolic and renal disorders. The test provides information about the presence of urinary infections, bleeding in the urinary system, urinary stones or certain blood diseases such as diabetes or hepatitis.

Preparation for the investigation

Urine samples should be brought to the laboratory within one hour after collection. Before collecting, wash hands and genitals with soap and water, avoiding disinfectants. Samples shall be collected in special disposable containers provided to the patient by the laboratory. Urine samples are not collected during menstruation and from patients undergoing massive antidiuretic treatment.
