Virtual Bronchoscopy + 384-Slice CT Scan of the Chest and Mediastinum is an advanced, non-invasive imaging examination used to evaluate the lungs, airways, and mediastinum. It is recommended for patients with persistent cough, shortness of breath, pneumonia of various causes, bronchitis, tuberculosis, suspected lung tumors, or other conditions involving the bronchial tree.

Virtual bronchoscopy offers several advantages over conventional bronchoscopy. It provides detailed three-dimensional images of the airways, allowing visualization from both the inside and the outside of the bronchial tree. This enables the detection of tumors growing within the airway lumen or the bronchial wall, as well as subtle airway narrowing that may not be visible with conventional bronchoscopy.

What is examined?

The examination evaluates the organs of the chest, including the lungs and pleura, helping to detect pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung abscesses, interstitial lung disease, pleural effusion, tumors, and other thoracic abnormalities. It also provides a detailed assessment of the airways, allowing the identification of conditions such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, and other bronchial disorders.

Preparation for the examination

Virtual Bronchoscopy + 384-Slice CT Scan of the Chest and Mediastinum does not require any special preparation.

Before the examination, all metal jewelry should be removed.

After the examination, patients can immediately resume their normal daily activities without any restrictions.

Computed Tomography (CT) uses X-rays. Therefore, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, this examination can only be performed with a written medical referral.

The physician will assess whether the examination is medically indicated and, if appropriate, will issue the referral required for your CT scan.
