Doppler ultrasound
is a special application that allows assessing the direction and speed of blood flow in the large vessels of the neck, heart, abdomen, arms and legs. Doppler ultrasound also has an important role in diagnosing tumors, congenital malformations and malformations of the cardiovascular system. The Doppler ultrasound of lower extremity vessels is performed to assess the flood of blood in arteries and veins in patients with risk for their narrowing (diabetic patients, smokers, the elderly) or patients with varicose veins or suspicion for a blood clot in a vessel (thrombus). The investigation does not require special preparation. It is recommended to wear light clothes.
