Breast Ultrasound with Elastography

Breast ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless, and radiation-free imaging method used to assess the breast using ultrasound technology. It provides essential information about the condition of the breast tissue, the presence of nodules, cysts, or other types of formations that may be suspected by the physician or detected during physical examination.

During the examination, the breast tissue is thoroughly evaluated, including:

Identifying the presence of formations

Classifying them by type (solid vs. cystic)

Differentiating between borderline lesions – likely benign versus likely malignant (based on ultrasound characteristics)

Selecting cases that require breast biopsy or fine-needle aspiration

Detecting and analyzing lesions smaller than 2 cm

The use of elastography allows for additional assessment of the stiffness of the lesion, which supports the early detection of breast cancer and improves diagnostic accuracy.

Recommended timing:

Breast ultrasound is advised to be performed within the first 10 days of the menstrual cycle, for optimal imaging results.
