Femoflor — Comprehensive Vaginal Flora Analysis

Femoflor is a modern molecular test designed to assess the microbiological balance of the vaginal flora. The analysis rapidly and accurately identifies beneficial bacteria, opportunistic microorganisms, and pathogens associated with urogenital infections. The test is useful both for diagnosing vaginosis and infections, and for monitoring treatment effectiveness.

What the test includes:

Opportunistic microorganisms (OPM)

opportunistic microflora associated with bacterial vaginosis

Lactobacillus spp.

Gardnerella vaginalis / Prevotella bivia / Porphyromonas spp.

Mycoplasmas and Ureaplasmas

Ureaplasma spp.

Mycoplasma hominis

Yeast-like fungi

Candida spp.

Specific STI pathogens (bacterial and protozoal)

Chlamydia trachomatis

Mycoplasma genitalium

Neisseria gonorrhoeae

Trichomonas vaginalis

Herpes viruses

Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 (HSV-1)

Herpes Simplex Virus type 2 (HSV-2)

Cytomegalovirus (CMV)

The analysis highlights not only the presence of microorganisms, but also the balance between them, which is essential for an accurate diagnosis.

Femoflor is recommended in the following situations:

abnormal vaginal discharge or unpleasant odor

itching, burning, or local discomfort

recurrent bacterial vaginosis or candidiasis

suspected sexually transmitted infections

evaluation before pregnancy or gynecological procedures

treatment monitoring

It is also useful when symptoms persist but standard tests do not identify the cause.

Preparation for the test:

For accurate results, it is important to follow these recommendations before sample collection:

avoid sexual intercourse for 2–3 days before testing

do not use intravaginal products (suppositories, creams, gels, internal tampons) for 48 hours before the test

postpone testing if you are taking antibiotics or antifungal medication, ideally for 2–3 weeks after completing treatment

choose the appropriate timing: outside of menstruation, preferably a few days after it ends

perform only external hygiene, without vaginal douching or antibacterial products on the day of collection

avoid urination for 2–3 hours before testing if a urethral sample is also collected

Additionally:

avoid alcohol consumption for 24 hours before testing

inform your doctor if you are pregnant or experiencing obvious symptoms

Following these recommendations directly contributes to the accuracy of the results.

Results are available in approximately 5 business days.
