What are Mycoplasma and Ureaplasma?

Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma urealyticum/parvum are bacteria that may exist as part of the normal genital flora, but under certain conditions they can cause urogenital infections, especially when the immune system is weakened or when there is an imbalance in the vaginal microbiota.

When is this test recommended?

Symptoms of vaginal infection: abnormal discharge, burning sensation, local discomfort

What does the antibiogram provide?

Preparation for vaginal secretion testing

The optimal time for sample collection is before starting antibiotic therapy or at least 2 weeks after finishing a course of antibiotics.

Do not collect the sample during menstruation (or if there is active bleeding).

Abstain from sexual intercourse for 3 days before the test.

Do not use vaginal creams or suppositories.

On the day of the test, perform intimate hygiene using water only, without gels or antiseptics.

Avoid urination for at least 3 hours before the test.
