The rheumatoid factor (RF) is found in a large number of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and may precede the onset of clinical manifestations by several years, but may also be absent at the time of onset, becoming positive in the first two years of the disease. The profile of rheumatological tests contains a set of laboratory tests that help the doctor establish or confirm a diagnosis even before the manifestations of pathology occur.
The rheumatological profile contains:
-Complete blood count (19 parameters)
-(ASLO) Antistreptolysin O in serum
-(CRP) High-sensitivity C-reactive protein in serum
-Total protein in serum
-(RF) Rheumatoid factor in serum
-Anti-CCP hs (high sensitive)
Preparation for the investigation:
- Blood sample collection can be done between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, after a 12-hour fasting period.
- The day before the investigation, exclude: fatty and fried food, alcohol, smoking, and stress.
- Inform the doctor about any medications being taken.
- Performing blood tests on the same day after an X-ray or physiotherapy procedures is not recommended.
- If monitoring through serial testing, samples should be collected at the same time of day as the previous test.
Final interpretation is provided by the attending physician or a specialist, considering the patient's medical history and clinical picture.
