Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is a challenge test used to assess the efficiency of glucose metabolism. OGTT is used to obtain information regarding prediabetes conditions and is mostly known as the gestational diabetes test. OGTT helps distinguish metabolically healthy people from people with low glucose tolerance (with diabetes). OGTT is not recommended or necessary for routine diagnosis and should not be used for daily blood sugar monitoring.

Preparation for the investigation:

Blood sample collection can be done between 8:00 AM and 12:00 PM, after a 12-hour fasting period.

  3. Performing blood tests on the same day after an X-ray or physiotherapy procedures is not recommended.
