384-slice CT of thorax and mediastinum without contrast

384-Slice CT Scan of the Chest and Mediastinum without Contrast is an advanced imaging examination used to evaluate the chest, lungs, airways, and mediastinum. It is recommended for patients with chest trauma (including rib or sternal fractures and pneumothorax), persistent cough, shortness of breath, pneumonia of various causes, bronchitis, tuberculosis, suspected tumors, and other thoracic conditions.

What is examined?

The examination provides a detailed assessment of the bony structures of the chest, including the sternum, ribs, and thoracic spine, helping to detect fractures, deformities, and bone lesions.

It also evaluates the lungs and pleura, allowing the detection of pneumonia, tuberculosis, lung abscesses, interstitial lung disease, pleural effusion, tumors, and other thoracic abnormalities. In addition, the airways are examined for conditions such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, and other bronchial disorders.

Preparation for the examination

A 384-Slice CT scan of the chest and mediastinum without contrast does not require any special preparation.

Before the examination, all metal jewelry should be removed.

After the examination, patients can immediately resume their normal daily activities without any restrictions.

Computed Tomography (CT) uses X-rays. Therefore, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, this examination can only be performed with a written medical referral.

The physician will assess whether the examination is medically indicated and, if appropriate, will issue the referral required for your CT scan.
