A 384-slice brain CT scan of the sella turcica with contrast is a radiological method used to examine the skull and is recommended in cases of endocrine pathology involving the pituitary gland, head trauma, high blood pressure, or metabolic disorders. The investigation can detect bone fractures, tumors, and congenital malformations. The administration of contrast material allows the assessment of the tumor mass vascularization and helps differentiate between a tumor and a vascular malformation.

The scan evaluates:
The bony structures of the skull, with a focus on the sella turcica (deformities, fractures, space-occupying lesions, etc.), and indirectly the pituitary gland (pituitary tumor syndrome).

Preparation for the investigation:

Patients scheduled for the scan can continue their daily activities without restrictions immediately after the examination. If there are metal objects in the examined area such as earrings or dental prostheses, they may affect image quality and need to be removed.
