Autoimmune tests

An autoimmune disease can affect any organ leading to inflammation and, therefore, tissue destruction, along with a deficient or abnormal reaction to foreign structures. Its consequences can be serious, and timely diagnosis and initiation of treatment can avoid disability. There are more than 80 types of autoimmune diseases that affect a wide range of body parts.
Normally, the immune system protects the body against germs such as bacteria and viruses. When it recognizes these alien invaders, it sends an army of cells against them in order to eliminate them. Usually, the immune system can make the difference between foreign cells and its own cells.
In early stages, autoimmune diseases are difficult to diagnose, because their symptoms are vague and difficult to describe. The diagnosis is established following a physical examination, depending on the patient’s symptoms, complete medical history and necessary laboratory autoimmune tests.
