About the investigation

High-specificity imaging investigation to assess the abdominal parenchymal organs. It is often a complementary examination after an ultrasound and/or abdominal CT, a specialized clinical examination and specific laboratory tests.

Scope of investigation

MRI of the abdomen examines the abdominal organs: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands.

Preparation for investigation

MRI of the abdomen requires special preparation, which shall begin one day before the investigation with a special diet that excludes hard fiber (cabbage, other vegetables and fruits), carbonated beverages, rye bread, dairy products. 24 hours before the investigation, it is recommended to take: Simeticone 40 mg (Espumisan 40 mg, Balonix Med 80 mg, Flaton 50 mg, Flatulence 80 mg): 2 tablets 3 times a day. 

* This is necessary to eliminate excessive bloating. On the day of the investigation: - The investigation is performed on an empty stomach - the last meal should be taken not later than 3-4 hours before the start of the investigation.
